Given the popularity of the Shadow Stormtroopers (especially by the marketing folks who love a good cheap repaint, that's also a multi-buy trooper) I guess it was only a matter of time before we started seeing ones with pauldrons. I don't know if VK has a backpack, and I didn't have one to give him, so that worked out just fine.
